Every year, around 400 people in the Southern Health Board area die from smoking-related diseases. Most of these deaths could be prevented.

Most smokers know that smoking is bad for their own health and the health of their families.

The Southern Area Health Promotion Department, in association with the Southern Area Tobacco Control Group, has made available the information on this site to support those who wish to stop.

As well as providing guidance on how to quit, and information on treatment and therapies, these pages also direct smokers to clinics and other professional services where they can find additional support in their efforts to 'stub it out'.
